Tested twice (partial): convert a .docx into a trim-size book PDF with free pandoc + Typst, then grayscale (B/W) or PDF/X-3 via Ghostscript. Real Word files: tables/notes kept, 2/5 images lost; gray step gave C=M=Y=0 on 343/343 pages. No printer has accepted a file yet.
