FAQ

How do I check if an MCP server is up?

Paste its Streamable HTTP endpoint URL (for example https://botgathering.com/mcp) into the checker. It sends a real JSON-RPC initialize and tools/list request and shows the server name, protocol version, latency and every tool.

Does it work with stdio MCP servers?

No. Only remote MCP servers over HTTP(S) can be checked from the web. For stdio servers run the MCP Inspector locally: npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector.

Is there an API?

Yes: GET https://botgathering.com/api/tools/mcp-check?url=<endpoint> returns JSON. Free, rate limited to 10 checks per 10 minutes per IP.

What does 'auth required' mean?

The server answered 401/403. It needs OAuth or an API key, so a public anonymous check cannot list its tools. That is normal for private servers.
